Weekly outline

  • Learning & Improvement In Practice Sub Committee and Quality Assurance Sub Committee

The SSAB has 2 Sub Committees, both of which have multi-agency membership and are chaired by member agencies of the Board.  Each Sub Committee has Terms of Reference and a Work Programme/Action Plan which is determined by the overarching SSAB Strategic Delivery Plan & Assurance Plan.

    The 2 Sub Committees are:

Learning & Improvement In Practice Sub Committee

The work of the Learning & Improvement in Practice Sub Committee focuses on Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SARs) and other related learning reviews.  It also ensures any reports and ‘lessons learnt’ from these are disseminated appropriately; either to wider partners, or to the relevant group, to take forward.  To respond to an individual SAR, a SAR Panel will be convened; the membership of this will be dependent upon the nature of the particular case.  Its other responsibility is to have oversight of the multi-agency Safeguarding Adults Training courses commissioned by the SSAB.

    Quality Assurance Sub Committee

The aim of the Quality Assurance Sub Committee is to improve outcomes for adults at risk through monitoring and evaluating (including an element of audit activity) the effectiveness of the processes and work undertaken by partners to safeguard and promote the welfare of adults at risk of abuse and neglect.  This includes the multi-agency Safeguarding Adults Training courses commissioned by the SSAB, by evaluating the training's effectiveness on positively influencing professional practice.  It also has oversight of the Safeguarding Adults Performance data which is collected and presented to the Board on a quarterly basis.  Its other responsibility is to ensure that there is communication and engagement with professionals and public to convey clear and consistent messages about safeguarding adults, which includes having oversight of these Safeguarding Adults Procedures, to ensure content is kept up-to-date and relevant.
